FAN CHANTS AND HOPES OF PROMOTION.

Although there are no international matches in Bremen during the European Championships, it is all the more interesting for a municipal theatre such as Theater Bremen to deal with the social phenomena of football. With the project "No Rain", the music theatre department is devoting itself to fan chants, chanting and the fascination of mass events. It will be a big get-together with the theatre's choir and participating citizens as well as (chanting) choirs from the city, a cross-section of the population as experienced with football fans. The drama department takes the novel "Hawaii" by Cihan Acar about a German-Turkish former professional footballer as the basis for the question of what role football can play in the development of young and migrantised people. Both projects, as well as a suitable supporting programme around fan chants and (social) opportunities for advancement, are aimed at participation and opening up to a diverse urban society - both in terms of participants and audience.
