GREEN YOUR GAME

The "Green Your Game" project aims to use the UEFA EURO 2024 to raise awareness of issues of global justice and sustainability in football among children and young people. Over 23 million people are active in German sports clubs. However, the practice of sporting activities is not without negative effects on the environment and people. Large sporting events, but also smaller clubs, generate CO2 emissions and sporting goods are often produced under socially and ecologically problematic conditions. The aim is to address these effects and use football as a broadly effective context to promote ecological and global awareness in Germany. Children and young people at clubs and schools are informed in workshops on topics relevant to the environment and human rights and supported in developing alternative options for action. In order to enable experience-based learning, a tournament is organised in which sustainable football can be experienced.
