A FINAL GAME

In a mixture of film and theatre, Ein Endspiel reflects the passion for football, fan culture and longings of a continent in personal perspectives from Berlin, a city of migration and exile. Together with Berlin amateur players and football fans, the film tells the story of Toni, a waiter who serves the UEFA boss in the VIP stand at the Olympic Stadium during the UEFA EURO 2024 final.

In flashbacks, we learn Toni's story across Europe. In the VIP stand, he witnesses with disgust the theatre that the corrupt football elite are putting on for themselves and a game that they have perverted through commercialism. The situation comes to a head when a bomb threat is received and the officials do not want to jeopardise the glamour of their final match at any cost, but gradually leave the stadium themselves. It is up to Toni to act: Will he become a silent follower - or a hero? What do spectators expect from someone like him?
